Your relationship with a stockbroker can span a lifetime. If you are young and just starting to set aside money for retirement, you will want a stockbroker who will be with you for the long term.

No matter who you chose to be your broker, you have to right to expect the following:

  • Time – it takes time to get to know any professional, and it takes time for the professional to get to know you.   A good relationship starts with a lot of questions, both ways.
  • Competence – the broker should have the education, experience, and credentials necessary to do what you need.
  • Customers like you - you will want to know that your potential broker has experience investing for clients like you.
  • A track record of success - proven success in the field, means that the broker can do what he/she says they can do.
